Subject:Loops I WISH For!!!!

I am an avid user of Acid. It SMOKES!!!! Now, I have combed the internet for sounds and loops and what I wish the fine folks at SOFO would do is.... create libraries based on one shots and motifs, licks, riffs, etc. What I am after(aren't we all) is (examples); orchestral sounds in which there are many loops or one shots of single basses, cellos, etc.that have looooong bows, perhaps a 2 count motif in which there are a variety of bowing techniques in order to create more realistic sounding beds. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE many of the existing orchestral loops offered by SOFO, but not only would I wish this for strings, but also for gtrs, basses, pianos, etc. I say this because even though the Chopper is a brilliant piece of software you are still limited by lenghth(sustain) of many loops. They are just to damn short most of the time. I guess I am trying to inspire the folks at SOFO to create more meat and potato construction libraries ala the RADS set.
To elaborate even more(as though you are not all ready sick of this rant). It would be awesome to have gtr riffs such as "Strat A scale in eighth note triplets and sixteenth note triplets and quarters and....... you get my drift. Then have it again but with a Les Paul Custom, clean, distorted, with harmonic picking and yada, yada, yada!!!!! The same goes for piano, strings, bass, etc. THEN, the Chopper would really shine. There are MANY great loops and textures in the existing library, now it would be awesome to have the nuts and bolts to really get creative!!!!!

SOFO, please hear me, I for one would buy EVERY library like this that you created. I know that I could get my buddies to do some trivial crap and create my own construction kits, but you guys have the kick ass facilities to offer state of the art sound quality!!!! So I am waiting patiently, but I for one would love to see this happen SOOOOOONNNN!!!!! luces

I'd like to see a virtuoso violin library (like total spanish guitar for classical/jazz/country violin) and a virtuoso piano library. How about harmonica? (That would be unique).

If you are looking for calssical 1-shots with a variety of bowing and fingering techniques, there are a great number of AKAI libraries that have just this, and you can eaily convert between AKAI and wav.

I'm about to spring for SampleTank XL, which is able to convert the Akai S1000-3000 libraries. The only familiarity I have with the Akai libraries is the link to the free 5000-6000 series that was posted in this forum. Anyone tried to convert these using SampleTank? (My guess would be it won't work, but if somebody wants to thrill me....) I'm uncertain how one obtains the 1000-3000 series. I take it they're not free....

If you get SampleTank XL you will have most of the samples you will ever need. Also consider Sonic Synth which uses the SampleTank Engine the patches in it IMO are better than the ones you get with SampleTank.

Ive used the Akia converter with the Vocal Planet Akai CD and was less than impressed with the results. Didnt seem to loop properly. I think Chicken Transalator have done a Akai - > Sampletank conversion which is supposed to be better.

But really check out www.sonicreality.com for Sonic Synth youll never look back.

Ian, thanks for the helpful info. Sonic Synth's instruments are totally different from those in SampleTank XL? I'm most interested in "real" instruments, as opposed to obviously synthed ones. I'll have to get the Symphony Strings library at some point, and I hope they're planning a Woodwinds library, too.

I've heard great things about Sonic Synth.

The patches in Sonic Synth are real instruments sampled Pianos Guitars and all sorts My current fave is the B3 Organ or is it the bagpipes. I dont really use a lot of synthesiser type sounds. Most of my stuff is done using Sonic Synth and soon Virtual Guitarist.

If you go the SampleTank XL route (which is still excellent) you will also have multi outs which you dont get in Sonic Synth. But then multi outs arent supported in Acid.

Any ways you cant go far wrong with either
