I just got the free version of Acid, and I'm wondering, can I now just get a CD of Acid loops and use it, or can I only work on the two free sample tracks available on the internet? My needs are simple, I just want to assemble drum tracks which I would then record onto my 8 track. I don't need FX, EQ or even a lot of tracks. Thx! |

You can, indeed, use ACID as you want. You're just basically limited to the ten track limit (amongst other things). If you ever wanted to upgrade to a more powerful version of ACID later on (like ACID Pro), those projects created in XPress will be available to you. You can even enter the contests at ACIDplanet if you wanted using only XPress. HTH, Iacobus |

The basic upgrades are worth it, though. Acid Music is ~$50 -- and you can render to .wav, etc. and have unlimited tracks. Don't know if Acid Techno / DJ are still available, but they are only ~$20...don't know what the additional limitations are, either. Express is very limited in what it will allow you to do outside of saving your project as an .acd file...but like Iacobus says, you can use whatever loops / loop libraries you have. |
