Subject:File Dialog will not open file

Reinstalled SF5.0F on my PC due to a change in the HDD. Program opens and works EXCEPT if I try and open a file using the FILE:OPEN dropdown I get all kinds of disk activity but no File Open dialog box. If I open Explorer and right click on the file I wish to open and do an "Open with", the file will open fine.

Anyone got any ideas? BTW, computer is a Compaq 7380 laptop with Windows 2000 SP3, all current patches and updates from MS.

Bill B,

This problem is most likely linked to a quicktime.dll file on your system. (Especially if you have any other SoFo products, such as Vegas Video 3.0)

Chris,

Thanks for the tip - that did the trick. I renamed the DLL file for now and will fix QuickTime tomorrow. When I installed QuickTime on this machine I did not install the Authoring components, just the bare QT itself. Looks like that is the source of the problem. Oh well, isn't program interaction a blast :))
