I'm trying to stream Windows Player, because most people will be able to play the file if they have Windows. I tried MP3, which works on both Real and Windows players, but some Windows players took an extremely long time to start playing. I assume this is because of player compatiblity. So now, I'm trying to save the file as .WMA . I need instructions as to how to save the file so that all recent windows players will play it. Thanks for your help, Danny Ayo |

If you are running Sound Forge 4.5 it is a little easier than 6.0: 1: Open you WAVE or MP3 file in Forge 2: Go to SAVE AS 3: Save as File type: Advanced Streaming format .ASF 4: Click save and another window will open with options of compression rates, titles etc. Choose the quality you want to stream in. 5: Now the good part click the ASX settings box: Here type in the top box where you want the directing text file to point to on your site. ie http://www.anaknasnda.com/folder. Then tick the alternate folder option and browse your hard disc for where you want the files saved locally. What this will do when you click SAVE is both render the audio in a streaming format, and save a small text (.ASX) file next to it in the same specified folder (I hope I'm not losing you!) 6: All you need to do now is go into your Web editor, Dreamweaver etc and make a link as you would normally. Don't link to the audio file, link to the ASX file and use the _blank window option, so when used on the web, the media player opens in a seperate window. 7: Now FTP everything to your server and you should be in business! Just so you know, I am no expert and have learnt this quite recently, so apologies if my instructions are a little wordy! D |
