Acid 4 Pro was a breath of fresh air when it came out. It had everything I could hope for in an app: ASIO support, allowing direct recording from live instruments unparalleled looping capabilities odd time support easy interface That breath of fresh air turned into a smelly fart when my computer kept crashing when recording with ASIO. I loved the idea of what AP4 stood for, but was so frustrated with rebooting my computer every 5 minutes. Flash forward: I fired up AP4 just for the hell of it, to see if a increase in CPU speed would keep it from crashing while recording (700Mhz Duron to Athlon 1800+). It did. Try as I might, I couldn't get the sucker to crash. Moral of the story is, I guess I take back some of the stuff I said about AP4, but at the same time wish SF would be a tad more accurate with their CPU estimates, as they were way off this time. I am just glad my dream app is back on track. |

To be fair, any minimum requirements listed are just that, no matter what company is mentioned. Minimum requirements never amount to real world use in my opinion. Won't the Durons like the Celerons, only worse? (As if that could be possible...) Essentially, those processors were hobbled for multimedia (digital sound and video) peformance, something essential for what ACID does. Iacobus |

Actually the Durons were rated by PC Magazine as faster than the Celerons. But still, there's a world of difference between a 700Mhz Duron and an 1800 Athlon. |
