I have two small hardware synths with onboard sequencers, when I send a midi clock from Acid4 they start fine and then slowly but surely end up clearly out of time with my project. I have what I think is an accurate soundcard(Audiophile 2496). I am running at a low latency buffer size (346 samples) and have tried various setting in sync/advanced. Can anyone help at all? I have searched the form and knowledge base and it seems everyone has just accepted that Acids timing is bad - I think that is pretty rotten - I have used Acid since version two and gradually as I have wanted more features and fuctions from the software it has delivered with each new version - I stuck with Acid this long because I love it's no-fuss, straight to the point interface. This runs true with the midi-implimentation but my music needs these external synths and they need their sequencers, so sync needs to be good.... Is there a solution whereby I don't need to go to the ultimate hassle of learning to use other music production software that can keep in time? |

What external Synths? What OS are you running? How gradual - over how long a period of time does this loose of sync occur? Does the tempo speed up or slow down? Do you have many tempo changes in ACID or is this at a constant tempo? I have tested with many external synths and drum machines and even simple hardware sequencers and there was no noticible drift for very long durations. The MIDI port could introduce timing glitches, but would be the unlikely cause of the drift unless you were running a very heavy data stream. Being that anything is possible, do you have an alternative MIDI port on you PC to test against? Peter |

Dear Peter, I am running XP professional on an Abit KG7 Mboard with athlo 1700+ chip, I have the latest drivers for everything. The synths are Korg Electribes ER1 and EA1 the midi out from my M-Audio Audiophile 2396 is going to the ER1 then thru to the EA1. They sound as though they start to lag behind any audio parts in Acid about the first minute of the track - it is very annoying with drum parts - much more noticible. The synths sync fine using midi clock from cubase. I do not have another midi out port to try but will get another interface ASAP. I have tried various settings in midi preferences in Acid but to no avail. Any help would be very much appreciated. |

It doesn't sound like it is a hardware issue. We will look into it... Peter |
