I have an external USB A/V audio card (Yamaha RP-U200), it can be used in 2, 4 or 6 channels mode. It works pretty well with multi channel wave format under Windows Millenium, using standard Microsoft drivers (and also with DTS and AC3). But I do not find the way to use more than two channels with Acid, is there a way to use 6 channels with this kind of sound card, or is this the same issue that arise with Sound Blaster 5.1 with Creative drivers ? The USB drivers does not present specific output for front/rear and center/subwoofer to the OS. Thanks. |

Thank you, I know that it is not possible to output directly 6 channels unless it is encoded in DD or DTS via a single digital cable (SPDIF) to a decoder. But since the Microsoft USB audio drivers used by the Yamaha card are able to play multichannel wave files (uncompressed) via the USB cable, I was wondering if there was a way to use the Yamaha card for this purpose (6 discrete channels output). Well, I also see that Acid seems to be unable to load mutichannel wave format files as describe here : http://www.microsoft.com/hwdev/tech/audio/multichaud.asp so I think it may not be possible to do this in current release of Acid. |

ACID does not support DirectSound audio i/o. This is basically the only consitent way to support wave format extensible audio i/o as decribed in the MS mutlcichaud site. We are working on a solution for this. Peter |
