Subject:Tempo changes in beatmapped song, how do I sync?

I have a song I've beatmapped and loaded into acid. In the middle of this song, there's a tempo change to slow down, then it speeds back up again to the same tempo. Beatmapping doesn't support tempo changes in the middle of a song from what I can tell. Anyway, when the tempo recovers the measures are out of sync with what acid has.

I'd like to say, "hey, in the middle of this song, at this exact point, the beat starts HERE again, so re-align the measures"

I tried to do this by "changing" the time signature to 4/4 (which I've done in some similar scenarios) but the time signature change always snaps to measures (even if you have snapping turned off) so I can't move it to the right position.

I'm sure this must be a somewhat common scenario, does anyone know how to get the measures synced up again?

Thanks,
Matt

Did you check out this SoFo KB article yet?

Yeah, the problem is I don't want the song to have an even tempo. This tempo change is a good thing.

I've been requesting this feature for some time.
There's a need to be able to specify different downbeats or at least be able to specify uneven tempo markers to either reflect inconsistencies in the song's BPM or to be able to beat map a song that has out-of-tempo breaks.

Both are very common on Latin music which is the type of music I mostly remix.

Morphx, I totally agree with you. For someone who is remixing, as I am a Ray Baretta song, a feature like you describe would be great and hugely time saving. To be honest even some more modern recordings suffer this same problem. Although, the SOFO post that MD(a valid, informative poster) describes is very useful, this is also a painstaking process of which really should be a workhorse type job undertaken by the pc. Would be nice to see this addressed in a future update.

Cheers

Greg

Just to follow up on this, tech support got back to me, but made the same suggestion about making the tempo of the song consistent which wouldn't be desirable in my case. I tried to clarify my question back to them but they never got back to me again. I hate it when companies just ignore you when they don't have an answer. I'd rather they at least acknowledge something's missing and say, "Sorry, we just don't have this functionality, but it sounds like it might be a good idea for a future release." Hopfully they keep up on these forums and have seen our responses.

Anyway, the slow tempo part ends in a drum roll, and it's dance music, so I split the song and moved the part where the tempo comes back up to be in line with where ACID thinks the beat should lie. Then I extended the song backward to meet up with itself, so instead of a single drum roll, it sounds like this sort of dual drum roll. Anyway, it's clumsy but it works in this case. It definitely wouldn't work for more subtle types of music or if the difference in time to the correct position was too great.

This should really be a feature in a future release or service pack.
