Sorry. Once they're gone, they're gone. The only way I can think of getting them was through that special CD Sonic Foundry was giving away with ACID Pro 4.0. Basically, the reason why they don't archive the old 8Packs is merely to attract traffic to their site on a timely basis. It's the same way with the "Get Media" exclusives for ACID Pro users. I don't think mD was being smug -- he was simply stating the facts. If "someone" isn't willing to "spare the 50 cent CD" to back up their files, why should another pick up the slack? Besides, NetFox idnd't say there was a HD failure involved...just a general Q on previous 8 Packs. 8 Packs are meant to entice, keep people coming back and -- ultimately -- get people to buy libraries. SoFo offers them for a limited time, then they're gone. That's the deal. To turn around and give those loops to others is no different than burning a few copies of the latest library you purchased and handing it out to your friends. As for the jab, I don't think it was warranted. Iacobus is in this forum all the time HELPING people with their problems (or at least trying to). I've never seen a smug or off-colored post from him yet. To accuse him of not being helpful is ignorant. He didn't deserve the dig for stating the facts. BTW - There's a SHIFT key on either side of the keyboard. It comes in handy from time to time. |

jess i had the disk failure and lost most of my previous 8packs not netfox please read carefully . the 8 packs themselves are free and what if netfox is new to acid he wouldnt have known about them previously and besides they are a great way to see how tracks are built in acid generally the sounds in these 8packs are drawn from a series of acid libaries and if you like what you hear this can only stimulate interest in acid libraries and make you want to purchase more so i would have thought that the more people that get hear the packs the the better as for your If "someone" isn't willing to "spare the 50 cent CD" to back up their files, why should another pick up the slack? smug or what ? what a wonderful caring world you must live in please invite me into it sometime NOT! |

PHAT, I understand what you mean about "seeing" how a song is done through 8 Packs. It does help a lot, especially if the song contains chopped or penciled loops, fades, volume changes, etc. I started on Acid Music, and I remember having access to about 8 or 10 8 packs initially. I think you get them on the Content CD as well. Seeing how songs can be constructed and getting the loops are really two different things. I know that I'll listen to each 8 Pack and download it if there's something interesting I want to check out -- but I don't do it for the loops, since I own most of the libraries already. Also, the fact that they put a new one out each week means that a beginner is going to have a good handful to check out in just a few months -- not really a long time. The 50 Cent CD comment wasn't smug, it was practical. The SHIFT key jab was smug, and I'm sorry about that. I was just a bit torked that Iacobus was taking a hit for being helpful and answering a question (something he does A LOT in here). |

no problem really jess and i do think good md can be helpful and often is but he also set himself up as main apologist for sofo and i dont just mean in this instance still the 8 packs are a good way to start so i can understand why someone would try to acquire them thats all and real offer of help rather than the company line would have sufficed thanks |

I've downloaded 8Packs and backed them up zipped to CD...only later to discover that the zip file was corrupted. Three different 8Packs in fact. But too late. I should get in the habit of unzipping them first to check them, but my hard drive space is very limited and I didn't want to do it at the time for that reason. |

I looked at my Acid Music Content CD and it had several 8 Packs. Don't know which version you have, but it may be worth the $$$. |
