Subject:How do I record midi and monitor what I'm playing?

I would like to record a VSTi in Acid 4a, but I'am not able to hear anything during recording. Isn't it possible to hear what I'm recording. I can only hear it after recording.

I've checked Monitor in recoring options

I bet you don't have your VSTi selected in the recording window. Look at the bottom of the window. You can have the option of choosing where you want the MIDI data to be routed through. The default is NONE I think. Hit the arrow down and select your VSTi in the list. You should then be able to hear it.

In addition to what SonicSounds stated, be absolutely sure that you have "Enable Real-Time MIDI" enabled (ALT+F7 on your keyboard) You'll also want to route the input to the synth via the External MIDI Input Port button in the upper right of the Soft Synth Properties window.

You should then be able to hear what's going on by selecting the VSTi specifically under MIDI Thru in the recording dialog window.

Thanks both of you. That surely solved my problem. The only annoying thing is I have to higher the latency to 5 ms if I wanna avoid crackles and fuzz. Five times as low as Cubase SX can handle...

I did everything above and even selected the Reaktor vst for the midi through plugin in the record window and it still doesn't work. It only displays the sound in the main busses but not in the record window bus.

I think It is my SB MIDI UART problem because when I used AbSynth with it and a keyboard I had to choose only keystation 49 and it worked. Still trying to figure out how to use REAKTOR with still. Can it be a driver problem . Im using SB LIVE with Windows XP PRO.
