Subject:Shutdown Hangs after Using AP4 & Sf5.0

Howdy. I've noticed ever since I reinstalled Ap 4 and Sound Forge 5.0f that when I go to shutdown my computer (Win98se) that it hangs and I HAVE to unplug the damn thing and then reboot and go through the whole ScanDisk crap.
At first I thought it might be b/c I installed a new hard drive, but lately I have been using my system for things other than music production(wow, what a stretch) and when I shutdown it's vey smooth and proper, but if I use AP4 or SF 5.0 it will hang forever. Anybody else noticed this or got a suggestion as to what I might change to get around this? Thanks, Luces

Can we have a little more info on what else is in your system, hardware and software wise? I didn't have such problems when I used to have Windows 98 SE (which may be attributed to my minimal hardware and software configuration).

I used to have shutdown hangs with Windows 98 SE all the time but they happened randomly and not when I happened to use ACID and Sound Forge. Never could figure out what was going on exactly, other than the OS just not being stable.

(If that's generic RAM that you're using, consider getting brand name RAM; it really does make a difference as far as app-related errors go.)
