Hate to BUMP, but this should be an easy one for anyone using Acid 4 . . . Come on, give me a reason to buy this instead of Magix or Sonar . . . both of which allow you to drop in different loops on a single track line . . . Layyyter . . . |

I own Acid and Sonar. There really isn't much of a comparison because they are very different programs. Keep in mind, a lot of what makes Acid such an easy-to-use, intuitive app is due to the fact that you can only put one wave on each track. Change that, and it isn't Acid anymore. |

You can't drop multiple samples onto one single track but you could just bounce down multiple tracks into one, with or without a specified loop region. HTH, Iacobus |

No problem. I d/l'ed the pdf manual for Apro 4 and it says if I have multiple tracks, I can easily render them down to one "stereo track." I sample and mix in mono. I don't want my newly rendered tracks to be in stereo, especially since I am really only concerned about rendering single instrument tracks together, like all the drums in track 1, all bass in track 2, etc. Is there any option around this? |

If you're not using loops for creating music, but are in a more traditional recording-studio setup, consider Vegas instead of ACID. |

There is no problem bouncing down to mono. When you use "Render to New Track" you are presented with a dialog that allows you specify the file name, file type, and template, which includes specifications of stereo/mono, sample rate, etc. |

Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured Acid had the mono option, but I didn't catch that in the manual. I do have to say, though, that I am closer to getting 4.0 than anything else. I don't know what kind of criteria you folks use to select your audio software, but my final judgement, after all the specs/features have been studied, always lies in the intuitive factor. For instance, I d/l'ed demos of Ableton, Magix and Samplitude last weekend, and messed with them last night. At this stage in my computer music experience, I think I should be able to open any music app and at least make some noise. I had less experience when I first encountered Acid and Fruity Loops, and I managed to make some noises with them right off. But these apps, forget it. Nothing doing. I would need the manual to make even the first noise in them. I also judge demos on whether they crash or have errors in them from the start. I couldn't even get Magix Audio Studio to open! Just got an error message. That sucks . . . Am I the only one who judges apps this way? Layyyter . . . |

Nope. Most users should judge apps based upon their own hands-on experience (as you have) and not listen to anyone else. You use what works best for you. That's actually how I came across ACID Pro (and the rest of SoFo's excellent line of apps). Iacobus |
