Does anyone know how the mp3 encoder used in SF products compares with the leading encoders out there? Specificly the LAME, Fraunhofer, Blade, Xing, etc. JBJones |

IMO, the mp3 encoder in SF products is the best encoder at 128 kbps. All the other encoders I tried at 128 kbps create artifacts with highs. Then at VBR rates, Lame seems to include some complex psychoacoustic algorithm that may make better results. That is for mp3, I heard excellent results using ogg vorbis (better than mp3 at lower rates). |

The only thing I don't like about it: It adds a few milliseconds to the beginning and end of the files. Not good when one would like to use mp3 loops for web pages. - KB |
