Subject:What is the best way to do remixes of songs from its original accapella? accapella??

I am a newbie at this. I read stuff about beatmapping , but my problem is that I don't know the basics into getting all of this started. I get the song to loop on the first few measures, but it drags in the middle. Can someone show me the easiest way, step by step (in detail) on matching a loop to an accaella song? Is acid the best remixing product they have out there? I would appreciate any opinions. How exactly do the professional people do remixes? (like trackmasters, and pdiddy) Do they use this acid program to do remixes for famous artists or do they use a more expensive gear, like a $1500 dj cd player that slows and speeds the song to match a beat at the exact bpm. Please, anyone? I need the best direction on being able to do remixes at a very fast and easy way. Thanks a lot!!!

try having the original version of the track loaded in track 1, then drop the acapella in track 2 and spend time matching 2 to 1 - then proceed with your remix and mute/unmute track 1 as required

the pros...whether they use acid or not, i'd imagine that generally they'll just ask the people hiring them for the remix for info about the bpm of the original file. in most of the remix contests etc. that i've seen this information is usually available. just set your project to that tempo and you're good to go.

if all you have is the vocal file and no reference for what speed it is, you'll probably just have to do it by ear. it might be easier if you chop the song into smaller chunks for the verses and choruses.. if you have a non-accapella version you could try beatmapping that to see what the tempo is that way..

In addition to what's been said, if you ever have a problem with a track with varying tempos, check out this SoFo KB article.

My solution is to very precisely chop your original song into fixed beat length loops in Sound Forge or some other audio editing program. You may be able to do it directly in Chopper using the chop to new command. ANyway, build the loops to whatever length you want so long as they are not too long and drift as the whole song does. Use these loops at will to rebuild the song your way. I do this all the time.
