Is there anyway of using a vocoder in acid 4 ???

The fact that u can't route Midi channel to the FX makes it impossible to use...

Too bad !!!

You can place an FX on the synth bus directly.

if all else fails:

use the free vocoder from analog x to blend the synth/carrier signal with the vocal/signal modulator.

hear it being used on one of my remixes:

It seems that you would have to route two channels to the same effect. An effect could be made that worked just like a real vocoder: formant on the left, carrier on the right (or vice versa). You could then bus it in and send your two signals to the bus, panned hard left and right.

groovewerx, your song is heavily distorted when I listen to it and look at it in Sound Forge. What's up?

Any Vocoder would work the same !!! ain't it .
but I'm using Orange vocoder and AKAI DCvocoder...

I know about carrying left signal and right ...bla bla...

I was just asking if there was anyway of using a vocoder the "real"(Midi carrying audio vocoded Signal) way in ACID 4
but I doubt...

Anyway TX for your reply...
And maybe it'll be for futur update(or VEGAS 4 )

How can MIDI carry an audio signal in real time? Please explain what you mean by "real".

U never used a Vocoder in real time(talk box Like) ?

The vocoder is set as an FX on the audio Channel and a midi track control the input of the vocoder modulating the audio material... Simple ,no ?

I know that I won't be able to control The Audio in real time(Singing while playing keyboard, and hearing the vocoder on my voice in "real time") like in Cubase, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it afer recording...

Apparently not.

Cheers

i've tried all the software vocoders out on the market. the end results aren't that good. i wouldn't use one for a lead vocal.

most popular songs don't use a vocoder at all they use a talk box. a talk box is way more intelligible and easier to use.

spend $150 on a talk box and record it into acid. that's what i did and i'm much happier.

Yes, I have used vocoders.

What you want is to control an FX with MIDI. ACID does not support direct routing of MIDI to an FX (because DX doesn't define this.) If FX plug allows you to connect to an external port, you can set up our Virtual MIDI Router and send an ACID MIDI track to the VMR which will then feed the Vocoder. I have tried this with the DSP/FX and it works fine. (There is no Vocoder in this package, but it does allow for MIDI automation of parameters.)

If the Vocoder plugin is automatable using standard DirectX automation, then you should be able to control parameters of the FX.

Peter:
I think what he is looking for is a vocoder plug in with a built in MIDI controllable carrier. I guess some "vocoders" may have this, but most hard ware vocoders do not have built in synth style (meaning playable as a synth) carriers.

autotune, wavelab vocoder, orange vocoder, and voice machine allow midi input for playing the melody.

just play the melody onto a midi track. then sing the part on another. if a4 can record more than 1 track at a time you should be able to record both simulaneously. thus becoming rea time vocoder.

was it distorted when you got it home tc?

Sorry, I haven't thought about it at home, yet. I haven't read the forum at home in about a week. When I downloaded it here, I opened it in Sound Forge and it even looked like it was clipping. That was converted from mp3, though.

I could want to check my driver or I could down load the song hear at home. If it's not distortion, it's brick wall limiting. There are near flat spots on the peaks of the bass hits. Vidjockey, you may want to check your ears or monitoring setup.

Sorry, Groovewerx, it's here at home as well. You can check out that .gif. I'll leave it on my site for a week or so.

Your song brings up another question. I hear Security and some Egyptian Lover in there. Did those come off of a CD or did you have to get permission to use them? I hear those clips in songs all the time and wonder if they've made it to the public domain or what.
