I'm looking for a way to allow users to download a file and then burn to CD. The goal is to have them listen to the CD will driving in their car. A wav file is the only file that I know will do that without addtional software and it is way too large. I appreciate your help, Danny Ayo |

Almost any CD burning software supports MP3 files. Quite a few of them now support WMA as well. Is this file mostly speech? If so, you can probably get away with bitrates as low as 32Kbps and still have it sound very good. At this bitrate, and entire 80 minute file will fit into about 19.5MB. |

Of course listening to an MP3 CD in a car requires that the CDplayer reads MP3s. Most older models don't read MP3. |

WMA is Windows Media Audio. It's Microsoft's compressed audio file type. Very similar to MP3 in most respects. After downloading the compressed file (either MP3 or whatever) i would have the end users burn it to an audio CD format for playback in any players. Most all CD burning software will do this conversion on the fly. Windows XP's CD burning utility apparently does this by default; dragging a compressed audio file to the CD drive icon creates an audio CD in uncompressed format. |
