New to the forum. I have a question regarding the quality of the songs that can be found at Acid Planet. I recently uploaded some of mine and have been lucky enough to get a couple of reviews. But one review confused me, because the person said it sounded like I was doing an experiment with distortion. The song that he reviewed has no distortion whatsoever. So I went to my artist page and played the song through the web site. IT SOUNDED TERRIBLE!! Please help me. I don't know what I did wrong. I put the song together using Acid Pro 3.0 and rendered it as a Windows Media Audio file (.wma) as recommened by Acid Planet. Was there a setting that I missed, or an adjustment that I should have made before saving the file into a wma? I would appreciate any help or advice someone could offer. Thanks! I checked out your song, and it is quite distorted. When you rendered it as a Windows Media Audio file, you rendered it at a very low bit rate (6.8kbps). Try rendering it again at a higher rate and it will sound much better. Here is some information from the ACIDplanet FAQ regarding what bit rate to use: ACID 3.0 and 4.0 offer the use of Windows Media 8 encoding, which allows you to choose a bit rate that will give you higher quality. After selecting Render As, select .wma in the Save as Type menu box. ACID 4.0 contains a "48 Kbps Stereo for 56 Kbps Modems" template, and that is the best one to use. In ACID 3.0, you can create your own template by clicking the Custom button. In the Attributes menu, select "48Kbps, 44KHz, stereo" and enter a name such as, "48Kbps, 44Khz Stereo". (Clear out the description box if it contains info relating to some other template.) Now your new 48Kbps template will appear in the Template menu whenever you are encoding in ACID 3.0. When you are done rendering your song at the higher bit rate, go back to ACIDplanet and select My Music from the My Planet menu. Find the name of your song, and click the "edit" link next to it. Then click "Manage Formats". From there you can replace your current .wma file with your new one. That's it. Dave Hollinden Producer, ACIDplanet |
