It seems the dc offset function will only correct the left channel even when both channels are selected. I can only get the dc offset to work by first correcting the left channel and the correcting the right channel. can annyone else confirm this? |

Yup. Bug. The manual adjustment seems to work on both channels, but the auto-detect option appears broken as you report. Sorry for the inconvenience. I don't know if a 6.0e is currently scheduled, but if there is one, this will be fixed. J. |

Yep!!! Nice find!!! I just finished recreating some DC offset to verify this one, that only the left channel was getting processed with a DC offset. As a work around for now, if you select the channels individually and do the DC offset process, it will work on the right channel. Here's what I had to do, to create DC offset if you want to reproduce this and verify it for yourself. Goto the simple sythesis and create a square wave which is 60 seconds long and has a .01 Hz frequency with an amplitude of 0dB. Do a Trim/Crop so only the positive part of the square wave cycle is left. Save that file and goto Vegas if you own it....or you can do this in Sound Forge using the "paste mix" function, but is easier to do in Vegas since Sound Forge won't produce any simple synthesis longer than 60 seconds. In Vegas drag a stereo music track and normalize to 0dB. Set the fader level of that track to -11dB. Drag the DC offset track that you created in Sound Forge into another track. Set the level of that track to -4dB. Loop the track and extend it to the entire length of the music track. You will have to put splits and do a linear crossfade at the loop points to keep it a continuous DC signal. Make sure your master fader is set at 0dB and render that mix to a wave file. This will give you, your music track with a huge DC offset, but not going over 0dB. Now open up that mix in Sound forge and you will see the music plus the huge DC offset. Select all and do a DC offset. ONLY THE RIGHT CHANNEL GETS PROCESSED. So is there any other processes that we should know about, where only one of the channels get processed? |

All you really had to do to introduce DC offset was use the manual adjustment in forge <g>. There was a similar problem with Repair->Interpolate that was fixed in 6.0d. J. |

Lol!!....that's good to know. I guess I went about it the hard way then. Just didn't think about using the DC offset adjustment in the reverse direction. I've always used it for removing DC offset...I guess it could be used for adding it too. |

And if not? Then what? Inconvenience? You people (i.e. Sonic Foundry, not the forum members) are clueless. |
