my friend had no problems with acid 3...

then he installed Acid 4 on his winME machine, 700 mhz, 384MB of RAM, 2 HDDs...

now it seems like everything is off timing with everything else...

Jacose-

Is he or she looking for advice or just sharing? If the former, perhaps some details would be in order, because other than WinME, nothing looks like it'd be anything but optimal.

700MHz wouldn't be bad if it was a Pentium, but for a Celeron that's a little slow.

tru, but when acid 3 worked fine....well that is a little ridiculous... Im still glad I got my modest 1.7 P4...

I will try to get more info on this one, perhaps I will just have him explain it here.. !

i was running acid 3.0g very well on my 500mhz celeron then i got 4.0.

NOT GOOD

i noticed two things that might help you.

1.) the advertised requirements for acid 4.0 are very understated.

i know peter or anyone else at SOFO probably won't agree, but i know this to be a fact. 4.0 is much more processor intensive than 3.0. I not sure if it's the new audio engine, the asio support, or the new midi stuff, but on lesser machines it does not behave as responsive. i ended up getting a P4 just to run acid 4.0.

2.) when you upgrade to 4.0 you have to re-tweak all your prefs. which means trial and error in regard to the audio settings in addition to the first statement.

I've definitely noticed that ACID 4 is way more CPU intensive. I've really had to pay attention to how many beatmapped and oneshot tracks I'm using and after a while I usually have to do some switching around with the track properties to be able to keep working on a project. With ACID 3 I was more worried about RAM but now with 4 it's all about CPU.

I havent really noticed a difference, but REMEMBER!~!!!

Acid uses and available resources for smoother displays....
and whne those resources are needed, they are freed up for more important processes.

I am right?
