Subject:Multiple streams at once?

Hi all,

I'm brand new to encoding, so I appreciate your patience with my question. We have SFStudio 6.0d (Win2K) and we are beginning to capture our church sermons and post them to our website. I'd like to capture at 44.1 for posterity, but then post at 6.5KHz for streaming purposes.

I realize I can capture at 44.1, then "save as", but I'm trying to automate this as much as possible, so we won't have to copy, rename, resample, save, etc...

My question is, can I do it simultaneously? Seems like we could build a profile that would sample at both rates at once, creating two files at once. Maybe I'm dreaming... :-)

Any help would be appreciated. I've printed the manual, and am going to work on it, but I thought I'd throw this out here too.

Thanks,

John

As far as i know there's no way to do this since when recording the sampling is done by the soundcard hardware, not by software. The signal leaves the soundcard at a fixed sample rate/bit depth. We do the same thing at our church (although i record at 22,050 mono to save space, no need for anything higher than that), and then SaveAs for the uploadable versions. You can create & save templates to help you. For example, when you get all of your settings correct for speech, save that template and then next time around you can pick it from the dropdown list rather than having to set them all again. I've got templates set up for speech, group music, instrumental music, and solos (each one needs a different minimum bitrate to sound acceptable). These templates save a lot of time.

Thanks! I had a feeling I couldn't do this. I appreciate the template tip! I may have some other questions for you as I get further into this. Regards,

John
