Subject:Anybody know which file stores preset configurations?

I'm contemplating re-installing XP. I've saved all essential data files, have a complete image file of today's current system drive in case the re-install is a bust, have screen shots of important program/desktop configurations, have saved all favorites, cookies, emails, tips, tweaks, freeware, etc. But I have accumulated a lot of saved user-configured presets in SoFo as far as plug-ins go and want to know if there is a specific file or files (in the old days all you usually had to do was locate the ini file) that contain the configurations for these presets. Thanks.

Hi. I have some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that presets are fairly complicated; they are stored both in the registry and on disk. This makes it very difficult to try to back them up by hand. The good news is that we have something that solves your problem. When we released Sound Forge 6.0, we also release a free tool called "Preset Manager". This tool allows you to select a group of presets and save them as a collection in a single file. Preset Manager was not included in the download installer (for space reasons), but is included on the CD. If you need to download it, you can find it at the following location:

Hopefully you will find that Preset Manager allows you to easily back-up your presets. Please give it a try and let us know if it meets your needs.

Thanks for your response SonicSCL. The preset manager worked great.
The good clearly outweighed the bad in this case!
