You know from your hit counts that we're all checking for the 4.0b update at least twice a day! Given the level of interest, will you please post an announcement here when it's ready? We can hardly wait. Thanks.

Give them time to get the stuff worked out. Remember how much whining went on in the forums for them to release 4.0? Next thing you know it's out, and there's a landslide of griping about it. "When's 4.0a gonna be out?" Do you really want them to rush the process? Just food for thought. I fully believe they want to have it working as advertised just as much as we do. Patience my friend.

This will probably end up being the most pivotal maintenance release this company has ever put out. After all the heat SF has taken over Acid 4.0, the last thing we need is a another bug filled update that generates yet more complaints. It's obvious that this update is taking much longer to appear and that is a good thing in the end. Personally, I hope they take as long as they need to get it right. Weeks, months...as long as the damn thing works as advertised when it appears.

I am still rolling with 3.0g and it's working just fine.

Also - this will be the first place you will hear about this so you can ease up on that "Check for updates" button...

Cheers,

Cuzin B

regencybuck, where did you hear that? CD-Architect 5 is a stand-along application. It doesn't need any other SF software installed. It's the 5.1 surround encoder that needs 4.0b

I think regencybuck is confusing CD Architect for the AC3 encoder.

Oh, no, I would not want SoFo to rush this one. I'm with those who say "get it right, however long it takes." But I have no sense of how long an update might take, not knowing how big of a team is working on it, and I just don't want to miss even half a day of enhanced productivity once it hits. :)

Since I've gone back to 3.0g I'm completely relaxed and have almost forgotten about AP4. Wake me up when the good version arrives.

Yeah, well since my upgrade I became so unsatisfied with the midi features that I have migrated. I own 4.0, but never intend on using it for anything more than exporting loops for my new app. Funny thing is, SF turned me on to VST, I got so into it that I quickly discovered way too many shortcomings to use it effectively as a VST host. (ie. multiple vst out, drum maps, memory leak in piano roll, piano roll independent playback, it goes on and on)So yes, the update would be nice, but since my migration, I can hardly see me using this as my primary VST host. Just gonna use it like it was originally intended, as an awesome loop editor. Oh, and that new app I am using will remain undisclosed cause I respect SF, it would be tasteless to plug another competitor here.

4b will not be a wonder cure all for a4 fistly because not all of problems are bug based and and its short comings will not be addressed in 4b nor any other version of 4 sf staff have in these forums that there will be no vst multiple out nor change of the other midi functions/non functions (unless someone realeases a good opt editor, doubtful in the immediate future maybe later?) and secondly 4b will in all probabilty throw up new quirks and bugs
if you dont believe that why do think people talk fondly nay with awe of Acid3 G YES G EE that i think youll find is seven full revisions and acid 4 is only one rev in i would rather have them quicker even if it only fixes one bug per day let em roll
because for many its just not working and for those of you that it does congratulations heres to b .. c. d.. x. y and z

The whole of what you did is distasteful. What has that post got to do with Diane asking to get an update mention here in the forums? What you've finally realized is that the tool you need to do what you want is not Acid. I recommend you try it again if you do any remix work. The ease of getting the job done using loops (custom loops mind you) is just hard to beat.

You're exactly using ACID as you should be using it, John. ACID was never meant to replace any other app that's similar in function, but rather to augment other programs like SONAR and vice versa. You obviously don't use SONAR's ACID support to create loops.

Think of ACID's MIDI support as a perk. Since there was no MIDI (other than sync support) prior to ACID 3.0, MIDI features such as creation and playback would have to fit into ACID's existing paradigm. That's not easy when you think about it, as MIDI is a different monster altogether compared to digital audio.
