hi all. hey! thanks for the tip on viewing this forum with all the threads in one window! super... another question. this one you can tell me to go read the manual if it's in there somewhere. i'll go look... but this one has got me stumped. one of the features of acid is to match loop tempos for quick and easy assembly of disparate loop lengths. OK, great...love it. Another feature is that when you preview new material, it plays along in sync with your song, so you can check it out in context, right? Yup...that's what acid does. Nice. however, with drums, percussion, and some rhythm loops that i've got, i'm a bit curious to see exactly how much damage is being done to the original file to speed it up or slow it down to the song tempo that i have set. Does that make sense? For example, let's say the drum loop was recorded at 120 bpm, but i'm working on a slow groove song of 90 bpm. I like the rhythm of the new loop against my song, but i've got no way of telling the quality of the 'original' sonics of this drum loop while previewing in Acid. I'm only hearing the after affect of Acid stretching it to the current tempo of 90 bpm. I could open the file and check it out in an audio editor...and that's what i've been doing a bit on some of the longer stretched items. Is there any way i can preview at the original tempo, without changing the tempo of the song for each preview? If so, then i could compare a bit right there in acid, and then decide whether the stretch is acceptable as is, or if it might be better to chop up the beats in something like Recycle, retempo it to the song tempo, and bring it back in. Or, on that thought, i guess i could do some of this work in Chopper, but i've still got quite a bit to learn there! So, if anybody has any tips on previewing original tempos, i'd appreciate it...or point me to a general area in the manual and i'll go searching. thanks in advance, rich |

Unforunately, not that I know of. If you change the project tempo to match the loop you're previewing, maybe use the undo command to go back to the original tempo? That's the quickest thing I can think of. HTH, Iacobus |

What Iacobus said. Just doa quick tempo change. -or- If it sounds good at your desired tempo, use it. Don't bother referencing the original. TeeCee |
