Subject:Can't delete unwanted plug-ins

So I made the mistake of unistalling some unwanted plug-ins without using the DXMan first and now I can't get ACID to NOT recognize them eventhough they no longer exist.

Now they still appear in the DXMan but it says that they don't exist. When I click on them to remove, it does nothing. And they are still there in the Acid plug-in folder.

Oh but on a good side note, ACID, out of the blue, decided to recognize automation on my third party plug-ins that support it.

Cool I'll check it out.

I also just tried to do the following registry edit as suggested in the SoFo Knowledge base but still no dice:

Close any Sonic Foundry applications.
From the Start menu, choose Run. The Run dialog appears.
Type 'regedit' and click OK to open the Registry Editor.
Using the Registry Editor interface, navigate to the following directory: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sonic Foundry. Within this directory you will see subdirectories for all Sonic Foundry applications and their subcomponents.
Find the folder for the application that you are working with and click the '+' sign next to it. You will see another set of subdirectories: DXCache, License, and Metrics.
Right-click the DXCache folder and choose Delete from the shortcut menu. This will eliminate the DirectX cache for that specific application. The next time you start the application, the DirectX cache will be rebuilt and your DirectX plug-in changes will appear in the application.

anon,

Two things I should mention:

1) DXman is a little behind the times at this point. I've seen cases with 2K and XP in which it doesn't work at all.

2) If you were unable to remove the registry entry for a particular effect, our software will continue to find it when rebuilds the filter cache. The list of DirectShow filters that is scanned when looking for FX is in the registry. It's the same list that DXman shows you.

I would try groove's suggestion, otherwise, worst case scenario, reinstall, then uninstall the plugs again.

Nate
