Subject:What's the best method to adjust vol. over whole file

Hi all. I have a mixing project I finished in Acid. The file is approx. 1 hour of mixes (all one file). The finished project looks like a mountain postcard, meaning it peaks @ song mix points and drops/levels in middle of the mix. I was wondering if anyone could share with me their technique for correcting broad vol. changes (I would like the whole file to be at the constant level through out). |

I use Sound Forge to correct the volumes with the Wave Hammer, bypassing the compressor using the maximizer/limiter. Most of all, listen before you render it. This works if you are mixing multiple large files together in acid. You might need to use the volume envelope if your files are creating an additive effect during the blending sections. Any other ideads? |

Well, you've learned how to mix, the next step you need to do is learn how to "master". There's 1000's of ways that this can be accomplished. That's also why there are 1000's of mastering engineers for hire and some get paid $10,000 per song and some get paid $10 per song. |
