Subject:4.0 Discount offer extension?

I'm wondering if SOFO is considering extending the initial release discount ($99) for people like me who were put off by the extraordinary amount of bug complaints that were posted during the first month (and to some degree are still continuing). I would think this would be fair considering the unusal circumstances and obviously I'm interested in purchasing it now (but not for $300+). I'm curious if I'm alone in my thinking here?

Thanks,

drbam

I would always recommend buying into an upgrade offer if only to take advantage of the asking price. Even if you have problems, you're locked in to be supported via free downloadable updates.

Is this your first ACID Pro purchase ever? You can upgrade from any version of ACID Pro to 4.0 for $149.95.

Musician's Friend is offering it for $150, along with Sound Forge Studio 6 and the content CD. Not an upgrade, full stuff. I heard Guitar Center has a special, low-priced offer that includes several loop CD's, but I couldn't find that one. If I do, I'll post it here. Always, always, always shop around.

Thanks for bringing the $149 price to my attention. Somehow I missed it. I was planning to purchase the $99 upgrade and then sit on it until the bugs got worked out (I hate being a beta tester) but the deadline slipped by me. I've been a registered user of Acid 1, 2 & 3 (and Vegas and SF). Given how good SOFO has been about taking care of their customers (I've had great experience with them) I was curious if they would take the initiative on extending the $99 offer to registered users. Can't hurt to ask. . . ;-)

With the stock going for .44 they should all be out on the street corners of Madison hawking 4.0 for spare change and crust of bread. I'd hold off on the $149 until either a) they realize they HAVE to move back to $99 (or less) to move any kind of product or b) you can pick up 4.0b at your neighborhood Costco closeout bin for $19.

Can you say...Broderbund? Rhymes with Moribund.

Ah Maruuk, you never pass up a chance do you. How's that stock research coming, BTW? Got that essay written for me yet? Oh, and I'm still waiting on the citation of your 90/15 numbers. No rush though.

Actually, the research I'm doing for the user community is going fine. At least SOMEBODY is giving users some non-spin, real-world info on a company that they are considering buying into. I guess you invest using the blindfold-and-dart method. The rest of us like to know if our money is going in a direction that has long-term viability, as opposed to straight down the toilet. 90/15? I'd say SOFO is going to be looking at 15 way before 90.

Today's quiz: Is "feeling in the pink" the same as "trading in the pinks?" Do you need your lifeline for this one, Nick?

Maruuk, If you're so smart how come you're not rich? Put your money where your mouth is and short the stock and quit your bitchin'.

Not smart, just helpful. While the truth hurts, it only hurts for a little while. What's the matter, miwi, rose-colored glasses giving you a headache? They always do create financial headaches eventually...

You've given a stock price. Gold star for you. I'm waiting for anything else, beside your baseless assumptions, of course. I'm patient.

Mr. DOOM AND GLOOM has returned with [yet again] nothing new to add other than "we are all idiots for not agreeing with him". Anyone can go to there internet providers home page and type "sofo" to do what you did. Hows that in any way helpfull/usefull to anyones plight in this thread. If you responded with web pages or ideas to "help" others without "depressing" them for trying to use/buy said product your opinion would weigh more among those who chose to "not drink the punch".

Do you really have nothing else better to do? You should really have that condition of yours checked out by a professional. It's not that bad and its getting better...quit just showing up to "see how many people you can get into an arguement with at a given time". That game has gotten really old quick and the majority of people who haven't yet "ignored you" see through this whole "look at me, I read stock for dummies and now you should all listen because..." attitude.

I can't believe that your holding on to this "sofo is doomed for not listening to me" bit with both hands. Get well dude...seriously.

Where ya been, mozzer--hardly voodoo--it's called dot.com meltdown. It shakes out all the bogus techs. But let's go with your fantasy--it was all my fault. SOFO can blame their plunge from $64 entirely on me, it's true. All those bugs in 4.0? Yep, you guessed it, that's my code. No ReWire? My idea, it might've driven the price back up to $64 and all my shorts would go bust. Actually, this isn't so far off, SOFO actually does tend to blame me for everything around here...

Musicians Friend is selling Acid 4 for 149 and throwing in the lighter version of soundfordge 6.0 for free, much better than doing the upgrade.

Interesting, terra--that's appropriately aggressive, good move.
