Vegas keeps hiding my files!

When I first begin a project in Vegas, it prompts me to choose a folder to store recorded audio for this project. Without ever prompting me again, Vegas seems to change this default folder at whim & I have had to go hunting for my files. Worse yet, I even lost stuff when I reformatted my C drive because I thought all my audio was on D: How do I keep all of my audio for a project in the same folder? How do I double check what folder Vegas is saving audio to?

Go to Properties> Audio> and see where Vegas is storing the files. Select Browse to find and select the folder you want them in. Click Apply. To be safe, I regularly do a "save as" to the same project name to make sure I've got all the files where I want them (make sure to select "copy all media" when you do this). Then its safe to delete any dublicate files or copies of the session that you no longer need.

You could do "opne all projects with these settings " in case you alway want to use the same folder.
If not then....

A good rule is to start by saving a project in a specific folder , within that folder you can make a "recordings" folder and after you have done a save then when you hit "Browse" it will automaticlly select that particular folder.

I generally set the default record folder and then make a default Vegas setup file, which always contains this default record folder and my default new session setup preferences. At the end of the session I do the "Save as" and check "copy all media with project" option and save everything to a folder that I will back up. On a regular basis I just go in and delete all the audio in my default record folder, if everything is backed up.

I think this 'copy all media' checkbox is what I was missing. Thanks all.
