Subject:Help! Acid won't let me open my project

Alright this is the first major problem I've had with Acid 4.0a. I was working on a project that was entirely composed in Acid 4 when I received an error and it closed. This happens every so often, but I always re-open Acid and get back to work. However this time when I tried to reopen the project I get an error upon opening and Acid automatically closes. I've tried to reopen this project at least 20 times since, and I get this same error every time. Any other project still opens fine, but not this one.

I have no idea what caused this. I've been working on this project for several weeks now and no previous serious problems. I wasn't doing anything I haven't been doing all along. I was tweaking the settings in the Computer Music DS 404 sampler (the only VSTi except the DS Softsynth that I had going at the time) when the original error occured.

If it is the VSTi synths causing the problem, then this might get you to load the project.

-Launch ACID.
-Goto the Prefs | VST Intstruments page and disable the synths that you have used in the problem project.
-Load the project.
-The synths in use should be replaced by the DLS synth.

Renable the disable softsynths and change the DLS synth stand ins with the synths you want.

If this doesn't work, email me the project (acd) file. peterh@sonicfoundry.com and we will have a look. (Just the project file, not the media.)

Discovered the problem. Thanks for sending the project file.

The cause:
The Computer Music DS 404 VSTi saves its entire sample memory to the ACID project. For this case inparticular, it saves over 1 meg of data to the acd project file. This large size caused a problem in ACID's project load code. There is currently no work around to solve this problem.

This bug will be fixed in the 4.0b release.
