If I have my ADAT Edit card and software installed on my computer, ACID has an Unknown error at startup. if you click ok or close the box ACID closes!! With 4.0a it is "Unknown error", but with 4.0 it came up "adat edit asio cause an error" or some such junk. removing the card and the software solves this but I would love to put them back in and use the darn thing! Anyone had this problem and sucessfully solved it?
PC, 1.6ghz P4, intel motherboard D850MVse, 512mb RDRAM, Windows ME
Thanks in advance :)

There is a bug in the ADAT Edit ASIO drivers that is causing this. I have contacted Alesis, and they are aware of the problem but told me there would be no updates or fixes for the drivers.

There are two workarounds:
- Disable the ADAT PCR ASIO drivers
- Disable ASIO driver support in ACID.

Let me know which one you'd prefer, and I will walk you through it.

Thanks
Peter

Hey Peter,
Thanks for the replay!
If it isn't too much of an imposition, could you fill me in on both ways? that way If I find that one way is inhibiting something I need I can choose the other.
You can email me with it if you'd like.

Thanks man :)
Alesis is just not the same company since the buyout :( Too bad.

To disable ACID support for ASIO:

With ACID _NOT_ running....

Locate your installation directory for ACID. Should be something like

X:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\ACID 4.0

Locate the sub directory:

X:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\ACID 4.0\Audio Hardware Drivers

Rename the file sfasio.dll to sfasio.foo

Start ACID. ASIO will not be available.

To disable the ADAT PCR cards ASIO drivers:

Again, ACID should _not_ be running.

Run regedit.exe
Locate the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO

With in this key will be a sub key that has the ADAT PCR driver information. I don't know the name off hand. It should be obvious.

Select this key.

There is a value labled

CLSID

Right click on this and select "rename". Rename it to xCLSID.

Start ACID.

ASIO will be available in ACID for any other audio hardware you have installed that may support it, but the ADAT PCR card will not be available to ANY ASIO based application.
