When a blank MIDI track in inserted, a numbered MIDI file is created in the My Documents folder. New MIDI track 1, 2 ,3 etc. Regardless of weather a song is saved or events are entered in the track, these files accumulate. Seems like they should be deleted at the end of a session. It also seems like there should be a more controlled way of placing them on the hard disk so that they get saved with a song (if used).

ACID 4 requires a file to be associated with all tracks whether audio or MIDI.

You can set a pref in ACID that will permit you to name and choose the directory to where the new MIDI file will be created. This option is located in the General Prefs page.

NOTE: Any edits you make in ACID do not automatically get written to this file. You must save to the file from the ACID MIDI Track props.
