Is now available. Nothing major.

-The Pitch Bend plug-in is now available for Sound Forge Studio users.

-Sound Forge Studio users can now save a regions list to a Windows Media Script file.

-The Ogg Vorbis plug-in has been updated using the Ogg Vorbis 1.0 release.

-The QuickTime 4 plug-in has been replaced with QuickTime 5.

-MIDI note labels have been revised to match ACID 4.0. Middle C is now C5.

Thanks Ted. Is this a "patch" like v6.0b or a full download?(What did happen to 6c?)
I am also very pleased to hear about the new CD Architect release, therefore Sonic Fonndry is no longer on my sh--list. I may not have to jump-ship and go to Wavelab or CoolEdit after all.

Not sure. We've skipped letters before with Forge 5.0 and Vegas.

There is a patch and a complete download.

Why is it that you only updated the Ogg Vorbis libraries to 1.0 and didn't update any of the options? Your implementation of Ogg isn't very good. Could you please update the custom settings to include at the very least the 'Quality' settings that every Ogg Vorbis user is accustomed? They should be from -1 to 10. Just use a simple slide bar. This should be a very simple and minor update.

I already informed the Acid team and they added it to their update list. Is this a possibility for the next update of Sound Forge as well?

Do you think you could pass this message on to the Vegas team as well as the others?

Hi MINz-

Actually, not as trivial as you mention. If it were, it'd already be there.

In addition to the relatively easy UI changes, there also needs to be backwards compatibility with existing ogg templates, which complicates matters quite a bit. We wouldn't want to break the older templates.

Of course, it's still on our list for all products, but just thought I'd mention that it's not a simple fix.

I don't see how this would complicate things. It's a simple addition. You add the quality settings slide bar. You add an option to downmix to mono and you add a sample rate option. You can keep the existing options that are already there to keep backward compatibility. Just add options and don't remove anything you already have implemented. This doesn't seem all that complicated. Am I missing something?

MINz,

Unfortunately it's not as simple as adding a few more options to the interface. If it were as easy as you make it sound, you would be writing all of your own programs and there wouldn't be a Sonic Foundry or a Microsoft :-)

I'm not trying to take an adversarial position here, but I do my fair share of programming and I just can't understand how it could be a major undertaking to update the ogg options. I've coded front-ends for many codec's. Ogg Vorbis was an easy undertaking. And every update I did to the front-end didn't break compatibility with the older 'profiles' created with previous versions. I do understand that maybe Sound Forge itself may not be programmed to allow easy updates to the input and output options. If that is the case then maybe you guys can make it easier for yourselves in version 7.0. :-)

Instead of assuming I'm ignorant by telling me it's not an easy or trivial thing to add maybe you should say it's not high on the team's priority list. :-)
