please check it out if you have time and tell me what you think, I need some help with the mixing, specifically BASS.

this was created totally in Acid 4, bottom up, with the help of Native instruments B4 (classic clean preset), pro-53, and Fruityloops, as well as Kontakt and the Drumkit from hell.

I'm checking it out now.....

Totally cool. It's like Prince smashed into Cobain, but with better, more in-tune vocals. The only thing I noticed were a couple drum loop snafus.

Otherwise, very cool.

Really nice job, Jacose. Like you said, the bass needs a little work but, in my opinion, not too much. Just a little nudge in the lower frequencies should do it.

Okay, I'm gonna be honest here!

Here's a list of notes I made as I listened to the track.

Nice vocal sound - like that its dry (no overbearing reverbs!)
Good level for drums in intro.
Dislike overall drum sound in loud sections - hihat & especially crash cymbal sound too loud in relation to kick and snare (too quiet...)

Bridge from 1st chorus to 2nd verse too long.

liked the introduction of the organ sound during the 2nd verse

drums all seem mono bar the crash (which is too loud in general, not helped by the panning.
drums too quite in middle 8 section (particularly against the distorted vox).

liked introduction of extra backing vox in later chorus sections.
Hope this is useful. I personally didn't have any MAJOR issues with the bass - possibly a little light, but it was there. The kind of bass that doesn't jump out but you'd miss if it were gone (which is a good thing when you're listening to the words.

Overall the balance was good.

I'm a bit fussy when it comes to drums - you stated they were the 'drumkit from hell'...explain! I am right in saying that the crash cymbal is a seperate sample? It didn't blend in to well. If it is a seperate sample, maybe you could experiment with subtle pitch and panning variations within Acid to make it less repetitive?

I spent a quick 30 mins editing the song in Vegas, basically cutting it down (to ~4.30) - a 'radio edit' if you will. Just experimenting! If I can work out how to use my webspace I'll post it for you, if you want?

Okay, I've just put together a tiny web page that has links to the edited version or your song. Hope they work - I've tried them and it works on my PC, so fingers crossed.

I'd post my stuff, but I suck. hehehe.

I just got Acid yesterday in the mail, we'll see what kind of modern rock carnage I can release upon the world.

thanks for putting a link to the original.

the version you did, WOW

thats really cool how you faded the vocals in!!! (in between the Verse1a and 1b)

I like it!!!!

perhaps this would be good for radio, but I prefer

WOWOWOWOWOOW
that was so cool how you rushed in the second chorus!!!

that is soo neat!!!

anyway... like I was saying, I prefer building up things more for an album, butI could definetly see the application for radio...

although it sounnds like the mix is being limited heavily, but hey, that would go along with radio, right???

very neat!!!!!

wow

the last chorus IS SOOOOO COOLL

Im going to remix the whole song accrding to this...

thank you!!!

can you email me your real name if you want credit?

wow and the fade out at the end is pretty neat too...

about the edit after the first chorus: It was basically the most natural cut down I could do. I thought initially that cutting the guitar solo bridge by half would be better. You can still hear it in the background now, but that was mainly about making a smooth transition (it sound odd when the drums dissapeared otherwise).

I know exactly what you mean about the radio vs album thing. I also think that a shorter version can be good for demos.

"although it sounnds like the mix is being limited heavily,"

Ahh....well spotted! It's actually running through a plugin called Dynasone; it's a multiband compressor/limter in one. Didn't actally push it that hard, but it does sound louder.

You can click on my profile name on this post (Ibliss) and it will show my full name... but I'm not worried about being credited for it!

I've added a link on the download page which shows a screen shot of the edits in Vegas.
