Main Concept endoder and DVDitSE problem

Ok, I can succesfully import MPEG2 encoded files of various lengths from TMPG encoder and Pinnacle encoder into DVDit. With the Main Concept encoder from within Vegas I have succesfully imported small files of about 5-10 minutes using the DVD NTSC template into DVDit... but when I encode a large file of about 60 minutes or about 3.5GB, it will not import into DVDit. It just hangs after bringing in the name and thumbnail. It continues to hang until I end the task. I have to delete the file from the HD then delete the shortcut to get DVDit to work agian. it only happens with larger files from Main Concept not the other encoders. Also WMP hangs for a very long time importing the long Main Concept encoded file although it opens eventually. I know people are using Vegas/Main Concept and DVDit succesfully. Any ideas?

I would check the following settings:

1. Use the DVD NTSC (or PAL) default setting
2. Verify the I-Frame and B-Frame are 15 and 2.
3. Change the Video Quality slider to 31
4. Keep the Average Bit-rate (or Constant Bit Rate) below 8,000,000
5. Make sure there is a checkmark beside "Insert Sequence header before every GOP"
6. On the next tab, make sure ALL the I-Frame, B-Frame, and P-Frame boxes are checked.
7. You may also want to change the DC Coeffecient to 10 bit.

Using these settings, I have been able to exceed 2 hours on a DVD with great results using DVDit PE (and AC-3 audio). You should easily be able to get 60 minutes with SE.

I had exactly the same problem. I ended up using DVD Workshop instead.

You can't import large MC encoded mpeg2 files into DVDitSE!?! that is odd...just recently I encoded a 70 min lengh footage straight from VV3c timeline (default VBR PAL template with quality 31) and import into DVDitSE with no problem. There is an update for DVDit on sonic solution's website..Maybe you could try to install it and see what happens.

BTW I use Windows XP,KT333 chipset(latest 4 in 1 drivers),XP 1700+ CPU.
