Subject:Trying to do a commercial Posted by: wilddj Date:10/8/2002 6:56:20 AM I am a dj at a nightclub and when I told one of my owners that I can probably start cutting the commercials for the club, he was game in an instant. The only problem I have so far is trying to figure out how to get a mic hooked up to record. I'm fairly new at all this and didn't intend to use sound forge in this manner, but can it be done??? If so what all would I need to get ahold of other than a mic of course, lol!! Thanks for the help!!

The mic goes into the board, then come out of the board and into the "line in" of the soundcard on your PC. The find soundvol.exe in your "Windows" directory, click on "options" then "recording", then click on the check box for "line in" and push the fader up about half way to get started. You should now be able to see signal in SF when you start to record a new file. Then you'll have to sample some background music. Remember that you can't mix a mono file with a stereo file. Your music should always be in stereo. If you do the voice in mono, you'll have to "save-as" a stereo file. Good Luck Jonnyd

However, I've been reading about the trouble with installing the software. Apparently, you'll need a portable firewire drive to take it on the road or location instead of a second install. What I'm wanting to do is give my guy a slightly deeper tone without slowing what he says down, I've been playing around with the pitch shift/bend and everything that I try keeps slowing down. Any suggestions??
