Subject:Rendering to new track question - level (4.0)

I want to merge all the events on a track to a new track that starts at the beginning of the song. The process seems to work fine (creats a new track as a wav file from the beginning of the song); however, it reduces the level rather than just "joining" all the pieces in the track together in one long wav. I want to keep the level the same. Suggestions?

Ah, the good ol' rendering volume question. :)

To get the original tracks' volumes as they were intended, just set the new track's volume to 0.0 dB. At that setting, it should match the original tracks' volumes before they were bounced down. (You can solo the new track and then solo the original tracks to see the similarity.)

The newly rendered track's volume takes its cue from the Preview fader. If that fader is set at, say, -10.0 dB, then the newly rendered track will also be at -10.0 dB.

In addition, you may want to note that right-clicking on the track header and choosing "Set Default Track Properties..." will allow you to set the volume (and other things) on future tracks that are opened, basically uncoupling the preview fader from the track input volume, once chosen.
