I removed Sound Forge Studio. I did a clean install of Sound Forge 6.0. I have Roxio CD Creator 5.1. Now my CD burner does not function properly with either Roxio or Vegas/Forge! Blank CDR media shows up as unrecordable...

Should I re-install Roxio?

Roxio has a repair function in add/remove programs, may not help but can't hurt.

Perhaps you may have already done this..... I would first check to see if my computer recognizes the CD burner. Why not put a disc that already has some information recorded on it in the burner and then go to Windows Explorer to see if the CD Burner drive and the data on the disc can be found there? If the results are positive, you then know the problem resides with the applications rather than the hardware.

Sometimes I have had similar problems and later found out the disc I had put in the burner was defective. Since I use the cheap ones, at times I have had to put in two or three before one worked right.

Reinstalling Roxio is no big deal. It takes only a few minutes. I would do a clean install rather than over the one already on the hard drive.

Thanks for the help. After rebooting, Roxio works fine. The problem is in VV3. Here is the error using VV3 to burn a DAO CD. Then, running Roxio & checking disk information, the cd shows up as audio & unrecordable!

The drive has received an illegal command.

Kurt - please check your email. I sent you some info that might fix this burner in our applications.

Thanks.

Thanks Dave...

Wow It worked! I am very impressed by the response time. Thank you very much. Vegas now recognizes the CD as recordable in my TEAC drive. The test write completed without errors.

Since I dual boot, I ran the update in both Win2k Pro and Win98 SE. I ran a DAO Test only (did not burn the CD). Interestingly, I had to Prerender to a temporary file in Win2k Pro while I did not have to in Win98 SE.

However, Now Roxio Easy CD Creator is not working in Win2k Pro at all. Disc Information on blank media shows Drive: TEAC CD-R55S, Disc Type: Audio CD "", Writability: Non Recordable.

Since Vegas works now, I'll bring this up with Roxio after trying a reinstall...

Great job!

Kurt
