I have SF 4.5. When I convert from wav to mp3 at 16kbs, the sound is very echoey. If I converted the wav using real producer to a real media file even to 6.5kbs, it would sound better than this. Can you help me? |

That's a lot of mp3 file compression and that causes the undersirable artifacts. Go to a higher kbs. 64kbs is about the lowest I can go to get something to sound somewhat listenable. Don't worry about going to mono to reduce the size, an mp3 is about the same, stereo or mono. Not so with Real. RealAudio sucks in many ways. But that's my opinion. |

I can get acceptable results with the mp3 format down to 24kbps. Anything below that sounds horrible. I would personally recommend using the Ogg Vorbis format. If you want to hit a target bitrate of 16kbps set the quality settings to -1 downmix to mono and set the sample rate to 11025Hz. Since Sound Forge doesn't yet fully support Ogg Vorbis I would recommend using OggDropXP. You can find it here----> http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/ogg.html I think you will be impressed with the quality of Vorbis. It's the best low bitrate codec available today as well as a better all around codec versus mp3. MINz |
