Subject:URGENT Help with MIDI and Acid 3!!!

Eventhough I´ve read the manual and searched all over the place, I still haven´t been able to do something as simple as being able to create MIDI tracks on Acid. It won´t let me create a MIDI track. None of the MIDI options are available anywhere. I tried different setups in the Options>MIDI dialog, but nothing happens.
I have a MOTU AV with Roland JV 2080.
Please help! All I want to do is import existing MIDI tracks to an Acid session, or to record a few MIDI tracks.
Thank you so much for your input.

Well, starting with the basics, have you tried:

From the "Explorer" view in Acid 3.0, double click on an existing MIDI file. Paint in a few measures. Go to "Preferences" from the menu bar to select your MIDI ins and outs. Click on the little square with a dot in the middle (to the right of the track name) to set your MIDI port for playback.

If you've already tried these things, let us know, and we'll go up a notch to continue to try and help.

Thanks for answering, James. Yes, I did try to do what you suggested (double clicking or dragging an existing MIDI file from the Acid 3.0 explorer window. What I got was an error message "Invalid track type", and if I try dragging the file I just get a "can´t do cursor" (the circle with the slash trough it. I went to the MIDI tab in the preferences menu, I did tell it I had the MOTU AV, but that´s as far as I´ve been able to get. Beyond that I don´t get any other MIDI menus or settings boxes. I hope you can give me some more advice.
Thanks a lot.

Be sure to pick up the full ACID Pro 3.0 manual. There's a specific chapter on working with and recording MIDI in there.

(I should note that ACID Pro 3.0 is the only version of ACID that will let you actually record MIDI; the other versions just playback MIDI.)

HTH,
Iacobus
