I'm having problems getting Acid 4 to recognize more than one audio editor in my properties. It recognizes Sound Forge Studio 6 as the default, but I'm trying add Sound Forge XP 5 and Cool Edit as the second and third audio editors. However upon choosing them from the browser, Acid won't copy their file and inserts SF Studio 6's files instead. So when I click on a track it shows 3 audio editors to choose from but they are all Sound Forge 6. Any ideas? |

If you go back into the Editing tab, are you able to actually change the name of the editor in the Name field so you can identify it amongst the different editors? If you have Sound Forge Studio 6, why are you trying to put Sound Forge XP Studio 5 in as well? (Just curious.) Studio 6 succeeds XP Studio 5. Iacobus |

I'm not sure exaclty about the editing tab, I'll take a look at it when I get home tonight. I think when I'm in the audio editor tab in Acid, there is a place to change the name (not the file), but I tried changing it, but Acid automatically changes it back to SF Studio 6. As far as having Sound Forge XP 5 and SF Studio 6 both, I orginally unistalled XP 5, but I found out Studio 6 doesn't have the pitch bend effect that XP 5 has, so I reinstalled it because I use that effect quite a bit. |

OK, I guess I can change the *name* of the audio editor, but it still won't let me change the file name, so it says Sound Forge 5, but it still comes up as Sound Forge 6. |

Use the editor which is easiest for you, and not three..doesn't make sense man. Forge is all you'll ever need for now. |

I have Sound Forge 5.0. I got Sound Forge 6.0 studio when I got Acid 4.0. I'd like to use both, but there is a bug and it obviously hasn't been fixed yet. I'd like to use Sound Forge Studio 6.0 exclusively but I've had some problems with it: 1. It often fails to save a file. 2. The edit tempo function doesn't work properly. It won't move to the start of the file. This is particularly frustrating. 3. It won't load plugins (?) like Wavehammer - even though I have them. The experience I've had with Studio has made me wary of upgrading Sound Forge 5.0 to 6.0. I'm sorry to say but Sonic Foundry products don't seem to be as stable as they once were - but then again they do a heck of a lot more than they did so perhaps that's just the way it is. I'm not sure about issues 1 and 2, but because Sound Forge Studio 6 does not have support for DirectX plug-ins like its bigger cousin does, it could be why you don't see Wave Hammer pop up in that app. HTH, Iacobus |

I encountered this when I had the demo of Sound Forge 6. Acid changed my Sound Forge 5 link to SF 6 as well as the link to Samplitude Master which I use for editing too. Regardless of which editor people use, if Acid offers the ability to have more than one editor listed, then it should be able to list more than one and not always default to SF6 if it's present. People in the Vegas forum have asked many times to be able to choose more than one editor from within Vegas but it would be silly if all the choices always defaulted to SF6. It's minor, but it's a bug nonetheless. Dave |
