Anyone using Hoontech/STAudio DSP24v soundcard? -ACID Product Family

Posted by: jtuffen Date:9/19/2002 7:26:37 AM Hi, I bought Acid4.0 a few weeks ago, and now realise how slow my PC is (I never had a piece of software capable of running VSTi before!), So I'm going to upgrade it... Part of the upgrade will probably be to move to Windows XP pro - and since my current soundcard doesn't have drivers for XP, I'm going to have to get another. I'm thinking of getting the ST-Audio DSP24 Value with the digi I/O bracket, and wondered if anyone here has any comments on this card (I'm also going to get a new mobo, processor, and case, so any comments about mobo incompatibilities would be great!) cheers, john..

I have both a C-Port (DSp24 with digital IO & ADC/DAC2000 rack) and the Media 7.1 which has a 'mini rack' with 2 analog/2 digital ins and 2 digital/8 analog outs + a hardware midi synth. Acid works just great with both. In particular the Media 7.1 is good coz I can use the hardware synth in conjunction with my VSTi sampler (VSampler). The hardware sampler cuts down on CPU usage for 'backing' midi tracks, and is quite a reasonable sounding Roland GS compliant synth. regards, jr

Must admit that I'd get a 1800A and up the FSB, but if you have the money, getting a 'true' 2.4 is safer. Just make sure you get good DDR. jr
