Subject:New to MIDI, problems with Audigy

Greetings,

I started out using ACID Style 2.0, moved up to ACID Pro 3.0, now I'm living large with 4.0a Pro, but I still have alot to learn. I was hoping someone could direct me to a guide on how to use the MIDI banks (or whatever they are called) and SoundFont that came with my Audigy to play MIDI in my ACID projects, or just explain in a reply. I figured out how to use the DLS softsynths and am now experimenting with FX as well. I guess I'm just hoping to network with a few more experienced users than I, and get help with this MIDI stuff. My Padawan to your Jedi MAster or something like that.
In regards to Audigy problems, am I the only one who's cursor line lags about 2 seconds behind what's actually playing in my projects? The problem just started happening today when I switched over to the Audigy ASIO in a stereo sound project. I uninstalled and reninstalled ACID and the 4.0a patch. Same problem. I've never had this happen before.
Any tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Live, love, and be well,
Kevin D.

Now that you mention it, I remember that when I used to use my Sound Blaster Live (which I have since ditched in favor of an M-Audio Audiophile 2496) in ACID Pro 2.0 and 3.0, the Live used to give me the same kind of lag problem. I used to crank the playback buffer setting all the way, which seemed to help out a lot.

Have you tried any VSTi's instead of using Soundfonts? VSTi's seem to provide some more flexibility. What I really like is the ability to take a basic MIDI file and route it through various VSTi's just to see how they sound (which is usually great).

I used to have a SB Live used in conjunction with Acid Pro 3 and it worked great. I had maybe a handful of program errors but seemed to be isolated incidents. Overall I was happy with it.

I've recently upgraded (or more like downgraded) to the Audigy and Acid Pro 4.0a and I'm having all sorts of problems. I'm not having the cursor lag so much as I'm having stuttering issues and overall playback problems.

The VST section of the program seems to be pretty solid IMO but the rest of the program has a lot of issues. It's ironic that the VST section is working smoothly but the basic features that Acid has had since the beginning are giving me trouble.

There is a known issue with some of the old Audigy drivers that can cause the problem The_Internal describes above. Removing those drivers and installing the latest from http://www.soundblaster.com should take care of the problem.
