Help! I'm going slightly insane...so I've got 4.0a and a Delta 2496. Uninstalled the old drivers and installed beta drivers from scratch. Anything I play using the Delta sounds awful (distorted, slow) and ultimately crashes. Strangely, a new project I started in 4.0 is fine but anything from 3.0 I open in 4.0 has this prob. Tried reloading everything a few times. No luck. No IRQ sharing issues. Is it still an issue with the Delta beta driver or am I doing something wrong? Anybody else still having issue with the Delta drivers? Specs. PIII 1Ghz 376MB SDRAM XP Home |

Hello, Do you have Win XP set for Classic View? I you keep all the "X"tra "P"retty crap on Win XP you will likely have audio problems. Try going to classic view and you will see a big boost in audio performance. See ya, Rockitglider |

Rockit makes a good point. Also try any of the tips available at MusicXP.net. As always, make sure to use the "DeltaUninstaller.exe" program that comes with the drivers first. Then install the new drivers. I'm using an Audiophile 2496 (beta drivers) and a USB Duo and don't have problems with ACID 4.0a. HTH, Iacobus |

Thanks for the responses. Yep, I have done some tweaking in XP but it certainly seems to be a Delta issue (4.0 works ok when using Windows Sound Mapper, only goes pear shaped when using the Delta asio). Yep, I used the Delta uninstaller each time - didn't make any difference. Perhaps God/Karma/The Force has decided to make my life hell this week... |

My audiophile soundcard on a Mboard with a Via chipset has an intermittent problem which causes a complete system lock-up, the only thing I can do when this happens is press the reset button. This did not happen with theolder drivers on the same machine running win98_se. |

When does it lock up? When you run any specific app, or just generally? I know I had a slight issue with the beta Delta ASIO drivers; Sound Forge, for example, ran a little funky (it would not playback files) until I did a complete uninstall and reinstall. Iacobus, This problem is a curse from hell (and that is not to an extreme description). I have tried what I can honestly say is everything. Latest VIA 4in1's Most different driver releases for the audiophile card disabled ACPI re-installed XP and all software (fresh install) changed PCI slots updated BIOS for the Abit KG7 The system lock-up is totally intermittent, the system may (when it chooses) run like a dream, no crashes or glitches whatsoever then on any other day I will suffer from a strange loch-up whereby usually (not always) I will hear a loud 'noise' and the system is totally frozen - then I need to hit reset. On one ocation I got a blue error screen with a load of error information (cant remember what it said). I thought it only happened with acid but on one occasion only I experienced this while listening to audio on Real player. It is truly a fu*k?n nightmare, after all my efforts to tweak and stabilise my system..... |

No, I have not picked up the service pack (slow connection), I am running unbranded PC2100 512mb unregistered pishy cheap memory so maybe that could be the problem. Do you think that if I bought some good memory and put that in slot 1 (or first used slot) and put the cheap stuff at the back my problem may sort itself? Is there any bios adjustments that may allow me to continue using the cheap stuff? my bios has alot of ddr configuration possibilities, i.e. award bios for ABIT KG7. Bye-the-way thank you all for your help and time. |

I would try good ram by itself first, then the modules together. I have seen unbranded ram cause misc. crashes/lockups. -NeoAlus |

I can second what NeoAtlus said. I've tried cheap generic RAM before and have had problems with apps crashing, etc. If anything, it's worth a shot. Iacobus |
