Is there a big difference between BeatCreator and the Chopper in Acid? |

Not too much (from what I could see). The Chopper is mostly integral to ACID Pro's functions, though. Looks to be a little more intuitive too. Basically, if you use ACID Pro, it'd be more streamlined to use the Chopper. There are new Chopper functions in ACID Pro 4.0 as well, including being able to render a portion of a loop to a new track. HTH, Iacobus |

yup - you can do loads more in Beat Creator. The pattern based processor (where you can filter individual slices, for example) is amazing, you can extract timing for use in other software (like fruity loops) it support rex - its just loads more flexible. For example, I took the timing out of a percussion loop then used it to filter a pad, so you get a pad with rhythmic timbre changes. Very nice. Doesn't Zero-X (the developer) do a demo? If so I would suggest getting it and having a play. |

There is a demo available at zero-x's site. BeatCreator is one of the best programs out there for chopping and processing. And they are always making improvements. Once you play with the PCP you'll never use recycle again. :o) Chopper is great for doing internal acid stuff. But use BeatCreator and then import that loop into acid and use the chopper to mess that loop up. |

I thought if you would just save it into Acid, it would automatically be Acidized. |

I went to the website to place the order. They gave me a authorization number, a registration number and a link to download the file. .....and guest what? It was a dead link! Now I feel like a sucker. I guest that I have to call the credit card company to tell them what happen so I can get my money back. Regsoft stated that a registration number would be needed when I first start the BeatCreator application. If anyone understand my situation and would like to give me BeatCreator, I have my own registration number and authorization number that they gave me. I can't beleive that paid $80 for a bunch of numbers. ..........damn! I guest that I have to get Recycle at the Guitar Center. |

I did e-mail him too and I am waiting for Regsoft sales department to respond back to me also. Well......I have been ripped-off many times before now. I guest that I am getting use to it. If nothing happens soon, I will call the credit card company and give them the printed receipts and stuff. So much for BeatCreator. This demo link is dead too: http://peter.smult.com/demo.bc_demo/setup.zip |

Can BeatCreator be used to replace the individual samples in a wave? For instance. I have a poorly recorded electric bass track. It has been played by a human and I would like to replace the bass with a sample yet maintain the natural fluctuations in tempo which are present due to the bass players lack of time. Could I load this wave into beatcreator and change each slice to a new sample? I would love to know how to do this. Kaiser |

Yes you can, You can slice it, reverse it, add effects to it, rearrange it, and do anything that you can possible imagine with it. The best part is that you can do it fast, fast, fast! It doesn't pop or crackle. You can change the pitch to each individual slice. You can name each slice. It has all kind of filters and envelopes that you can apply to each slice. You cam export rex files, wave file or any kind of file. This program is impressive! If you have a real bass player recording, BeatCreator can slice it up and you can delete the slices. The tempo and all will still be there waiting for you to put something else in it, because when you delete the slices(samples), the window is still there. If this program can't do it, nothing will and BeatCreator is worth the money. I think you will like it. |

Al, You can delete the slices, and all of the information is there? Do you mean the exact timing of when the slices occured remains? So I can simply replace the original bass recording with a sample of a bass guitar? Thanks Kaiser |

Ok........I now see what you are saying. I took a bass recording and put it into BeatCreator. BeatCreator sliced it up and it told me the tempo, how many bars and on and on. It also has an analyzer tool that tell you how many beats and how the slice is off the beat by percentage. Here is an example from the first recording: Bar:1/4:1/16 Q% No. [Beat 021] 1:1:1 0% 1: 1:1:2 -10% 2: 1:1:3 -2% 3: 1:1:4 2% 4: 1:2:5 -12% 5: 1:2:6 7% 6: 1:2:7 -3% 7: 1:2:8 -6% 8: 1:3:9 -1% 9: 1:3:10 4% 10: 1:3:11 -2% 11: 1:3:12 -6% 12: This sample has 12 beats or 12 slices. As you see, beat 1 is perfect, beat 2 is off by-10%, and so on. I left this window open and I opened another bass sample totally different with 12 slices/beats also. Now there are 2 windows: both windows are totally different with setting. All I did was dagged and dropped the new sample by slices into the first window: slice by slice. If the real bass recording has 12 slices, then the new sample much also have 12 slice too. They must match by slices; it only makes sence. How can you have a bass player slapping and a popping 12 beat/slices, but you want to peplace it with a sample that has only 6 slices? The beats must match or it will sound completely different. The beats from both windows have the same beats/slice, but the timings are different. Here is an example of the second window(sample): Bar:1/4:1/16 Q% No. [Beat 012] 1:1:1 0% 1: 1:1:3 -3% 2: 1:1:4 0% 3: 1:2:5 -14% 4: 1:2:6 -5% 5: 1:2:7 0% 6: 1:3:9 -2% 7: 1:3:11 1% 8: 1:4:13 -5% 9: 1:4:14 0% 10: 1:4:15 -6% 11: 1:4:16 3% 12: See the differences in the timing? The new sample can get the same feel from the first sample by using the replacement tool. Just drag beat 1 from the new sample and put it on beat 1 of the first bass sample. Do the same with all beats and now the new sample is now the feel of the first sample. ........I just did it!!!! I hope this clarify with what you want to do because I wouldn't want you to purchase the wrong thing. I love BeatCreator. |
