Is this possible?

i.e. play a soft synth live with control changes on a midi track and then record this output on an audio track WITHOUT RECORDING THE REST OF THE TUNE? i have an sblive with kxproject drivers.

Unless I misunderstand you I think its simply a case of muting whatever you do not want when you render to a new track

No, I want to record a new track while the other parts are playing, so that I can make cc control changes live along to drum beats and other sampled elements

carnie,

You would need to route the portions you don't wish to record to another output on the sound card, then mix them somehow so you can monitor your output while recording. The recording input in ACID would be configured to record via loopback the output that only contains the portions of the track you wish to control.

I hope this makes sense,
Nate
