Ok, we've all heard it a gazillion times...the effect of basically taking the Treble knob on your mixing board and going from +12dB to -12dB in an orderly fashion to the song...same with the Bass knob. Tons of remixes out there (commercial and non) do this effect and I can't seem to figure out how to do this with Acid 4.0 Trial version.

I know how to insert the EQ and make the track equalized...but how to I find/use an EQ plugin that is similar to the Flange plugin...the Flange happens over the length of the track...whereas the EQ happens on the actual sample itself. I invision the Project to look like a Volume or Pan line where I can control how much Bass/Treble occurs at various points in the track...but alas...I cannot find this cool effect. Nor does the manual seem to state how to do it.

Can it be done? Does anyone have a very simple .acd file they can send me with 1 or 2 tracks to demonstrate how the plugin works? Maybe even a few screenshots if you think that would help...

Thanks!

You want to use the new resonant filter plug-in in 4.0 and then add FX automation to change the resonant frequency. Set it to bandpass filter mode first. What you're hearing is someone sweeping a bandpass filter (resonant filter) over an audio signal. Pretty common stuff. It sounds kind of "flangy" when you do it.

mmmm....got the FX Automation (but I can't control how often it "sweeps") but I can't find the "bandpass filter" you are talking about.

Thanks for the tips and hopefully I can get this going tonight!

actually...Acid just crashed (GP faulted for us old timers)

Can I be a pain and ask you to give me a step by step set of instructions?

I am on Win2k Pro with 256MB of RAM, gigs of hard drive space, a P3 450MHz. Kinda old but I will be getting a new pc within a few weeks. I have a SB Live! soundcard.

Any tips groovewerx?

I seemed to have figured it out...was getting confused with the definition of "Band" and where to play with the lines.

I think I have the hang of it now.

Thanks all.

wow, lots of activity eric! lemme know if you need any other help, but it's really a matter of playing with the fx automation envelopes. hell, you can even change the filter type with the envelopes. very cool feature in 4.0.
