Hi,

I get the message 'Error starting Acid. The reason for the error could not be determined.'

Is this anything to worry about?

This is a fresh install of Acid 3.0 and 4.0a demo version.

System is XP Home P4 2.0GHz 512 DDR RAM Radeon 7000/VE Dual Head Seagate
Barracuda 80Gb x 2 and RME 9652 Project Hammerfall.

Regards

M

See Iacobus's response here for a probable solution:

Radeon 2.2 drivers maybe? If so, install Radeon 2.3 drivers.

Don't know about SForge, but it seems VV and Acid are the only app's out there that seem to need(if it's a need)this service enabled...referring to the above solution.
Now that I have everything set up/installed, my Win XP runs perfectly on just 5 services(not internet or network connected/no scanner or printer/no sys restore etc).

Starting VV also starts the Windows Image Aquisition service. So, if you don't use your scanner much or don't have one, disable that one, cuz setting to manual on some of these services does no good.

Yep,Iacobus's fix did it! Also solved my problem where SForge 5 exits immediately when opening.

SoFo, I installed the Radeon 2.3 drivers too.

Ha Ha, this XP thing is much scarier than W98SE isn't it?

Oh btw does it matter if it's set to Manual or Automatic?

Kinda. Set it to "Manual" if you need to choose. XP will not load the service unless it needs it. Setting it to "Automatic" will load the service on startup.
