So far so good w/4.0a...and I don't believe I'm sayin this, but: can SOFO recommend a fluid, seamless VSTi to fit acid my 4.0a..? and not too spendy..? but could augment my Alesis 7.1 midi keybo, mackie mixer1202vlz, 1700+AMD w/A7A266 mobo and 512MB DDRam, 2 HDs, sf6, acid4a, vv3, emagic's AW2 card, sonar131, overture 2 noteware, various plugins from silverspike, PSP audioware, yours, etc...thanks again...looks like the update's nice so far, and hasn't presented MORE problems... |

TeeCee, I think he/she's asking for a VSTi recommendation. stusy, you don't need to buy any, go to http://www.kvr-vst.com and look for the free ones. (eg. rgc triangle II, green oak crystal, refx claw, linplug free alpha, mda epiano etc.) If you must spend your money, most commercial VSTi's have downloadable demos. |

While we're on the subject of VSTs, I haven't been able to get the DSL Soft Synth to work (but I'll be installing 4.0a as soon as it finishes downloading and am so hopeful), so I had to look elsewhere for something to do simple drums from the standard GM set. I'm just learning about soft synths, and I went and downloaded all the free drum synths I could find, hoping I could just get my simple little drums to render. (I was at K-v-R when I saw the notice about 4.0a!) But I've checked the knowledgebase listing for VSTs that work with Acid, and I'm very reluctant (given the problems oft-cited in this forum) to try anything that isn't listed there. Can anyone suggest a VSTi that will read the standard GM drum set without me having to learn how to program or sample-load something to get it to work? I'm not fussy about my drums...just have a few woodblocks and shakes and congas in there for some quirkiness. Maybe 4.0a will solve the problems I was having with the DSL soft synth.... |

You can use DR-008, the drum sampler and build a GM kit with it. It will let you assign something like 96 sounds to a bank and will trigger like drums. I've used in Acid 4.0. TeeCee |

What problems are you having with the DLS synth? Explain what you want to do and I am sure we can figure out the problem. Peter |

I'm an idiot...haven't spent that much time w/Acid 3 either, before jumping to 4, so I understand the DLS softsynth a little better now, and after screwin around w/things a little more, in tandem w/my plugins, other loops, my alesis, etc...I'm slowly comin about...not sure how the DR-008 would work w/my setup...Angus with fxpansion is pretty johnny-on-the-spot with stuff, too...have a good weekend...! |
