Rendering wmv with windows xp sp1

pantezuma wrote on 9/17/2002, 12:31 PM
Hi to all.
I did a fresh install of windows xp integrated with sp1, so I thought everything would work fine. But I found that when trying to render a wmv with VV 3.0c I get the following error:
"An error occurred while creating the media file (name).wmv. Error 0xc00d0bc2 (message missing)".
That never happened before without sp1...
So, there's a woraround or something to solve this?.
Thanks in advance!!!
Bye!!!

It will prob. affect more people in the near future. It's really hard to DL SP-1 right now on a dial up. I refuse to give MS $10 for the CD, so will have a friend DL it on BB.
Can you uninstall SP-1?
Does SP1 come with WMP ver. 9?
Maybe try installing/reinstalling WMP ver. 9 beta.

Keep trying things.....
Go back to the MS update site, and see if there are any more hot fixes(post SP1).

Yes, you can uninstall sp1. I can't cause I made a clean install from an integrated windows xp sp1 Cd that I made.
WMP version is 8.00.00.4487. I don't remember if WMP version without sp1 is the same.
I'll keep trying to do something
Thanks!!!

It's happening to me to. I thought it was b/c I installed Windows Media 9, but now it seems as though it might be something in SP1.

What you can do is edit your stuff and then save it as .avi file and download Windows Media Encoder from Microsoft and do it that way for now.

Hope that helps! Hope someone (SF or MS) fixes it soon!!!!!

I'm running XP with SP1 (just loaded yesterday) and I don't have any problems rendering a wmv from some DV media, using the 1 meg template. My wmplayer also lists version 8.00.00.4487.

Post some other settings to try duplicating?

Did anyone have AntiVirus software running during SP-1 install? This came up somewhere else. SoFo products are NOT the only ones affected. Looks like MOST aren't having any trouble, but the problems are out there.
Some are DL'ing it, but "sitting on it" till a "fix" comes out. A fix for what I don't know.
SP-1 will be needed to qualify for any additional updates from the DL center, and it apparently fixes a MAJOR security issue/vulnerability.

Yeah, just use that WMV encoder for now!!!

I forgot to mention that I'm using XP and SP1 SPANISH version.
Maybe the problem only appears on that language.
