Hello all. I just recieved my ACID 4.0 installation disc, and cannot install it. I am running an Athlon T-bird(1600Mhz)with 500mg RAM, Matrox dualhead vid card. I have uninstalled ACID 3.0f, prior to the new install. After clicking on the install icon on the autostart splashscreen, I received a message concerning updating something to do with the Windows installer utility, and that I needed to restart the machine for it to take effect. Which I did. Now, when I attempt installation, after the welcome screen, there's a 10 second pause, then a splash screen stating that "The installation wizard has ended prematurely. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time...etc." I've since re-started the machine around 5 times, and I get the same error message on each installation attempt. Any advice would be welcome....Oh- I tried re-installing 3.0 - no problem there. |

BUMP - No One??? Sheesh, this stinks. I called Sonic Foundry support this morning, and their only suggestion was to pull my Cubase SX USB dongle. I did - no luck though. It did't work. If anyone has any kind of idea, I'll try it... |

I don't know if this would help, or even if SoFo would recommend it. But, why not try downloading AP4 and using your serial numbers supplied on your boxed version. Maybe you'd have better luck with that installer. At least give them a call to see if its do-able. HTH M |

See if the demo works. If it does, then its with the installation, and SF should give you a Password Online for your system. |

Serial codes, regardless if they're purchased over the site or included with a boxed version, should work with any installation source and build of that specific program. So even if your serial code came with the boxed version, it will also work with the downloadable version. They're essentially the same file, just coming from different places. Trying to reinstall Acid 3 to see if there's a problem won't do you any good since it doesn't require that Windows Installer be updated. That's where the problem appears to be. To remedy this, I'd try installing Acid 4 in Safe Mode. There are other things you can try, but give that a whirl first. Reply back here to let me know if it works or not. - Nick |

FRESNOG - thanks a bunch. That run command of yours somehow got the windows installer utility to behave itself and allow the ACID installation to continue past the first splash screen. Once I passed that hurdle, the rest of the routine ran smoothly, and I was up and running in a flash. Thanks!!! |
