Subject:Beta Delta ASIO drivers for ACID 4.0 available...

Just a heads up to everyone having problems with Delta ASIO and ACID 4.0: M-Audio has beta drivers available over at their Web site. Make sure you tick the "Show Previous & BETA Versions" option to see the beta drivers at the bottom.

I've tried these and they seem to work quite well. I haven't had any error messages or crashes. (I've been pounding ACID to get it to do so too but no go...but that's a good thing.)

HTH,

Hey, I've got an idea, I'll wait 12 hours and start my own thread on this! Jut kidding.

What OS are you using the drivers in? Windows 2000/XP and Windows 98SE seem to be in two different series of numbers.

Hmm. You're right. I don't even see ASIO/ACID 4.0 betas for Win 98. Wonder why that is?

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition. (The betas are 5.10.00.0114x2)

I think they're killing off Win98 support. It's a sad thing. Luckily I installed Winxp Pro about two weeks ago. I did it when I realized that I couldn't set my latency anywhere near as tight on my Win98SE box with my Delta 66 as I could on my Window 2000 box with my Audiophile.

I was mainly just hoping that the driver you were using wasn't the Win98 driver. The I checked and saw that there isn't a version 5 or a beta driver (still) for Win98.

The latest beta release for my Delta 410 shows in May 2002 at that website. It does show support for ASIO, but shouldn't it have a more recent release date? Is that really the update everyone is discussing?

The update listed for the Audiophile and Delta 66 are dated September 9 or 10 and specifically says Acid. Did you select "Show old and Beta drivers"?

Just upgrade to XP and find yourself in audio production bliss. Of course, you DO have to make some OS modifications...but it's well worth it. I remember those good ol' days of lock-up's and blue screens. Don't miss it a bit.

Sounds dumb, but where do i install these drivers? I tried the shared plugins and nothing happens. Help?

Once you unpack them (preferably to either a floppy or to a new folder on your hard drive), be sure to use the "DeltaUninstaller.exe" program first, then restart your system. Your OS should redetect your Delta card and ask for the drivers; simply point it to where they are. Might want to restart Windows just for the sake of it afterwards.

Once you launch ACID, go into Options>Preferences on the menu bar. Select the Audio tab. Under Audio device type, choose "Windows Classic Wave Driver" or "M Audio Delta ASIO" and then choose the appropriate playback device(s) immediately underneath.
